Mosaics are durable and versatile. They are a great way to add art and beauty to any environment. Mosaics can be functional art, making great backsplashes, countertops, walkways, garden elements and more, enhancing the surrounding environment. They are waterproof, mostly weatherproof, touchable, and washable.

Dorje Buddhist Altar

I use salvaged stained glass and tile on all small artwork. Each piece is hand-cut and shaped. The mosaic develops through many stages, including surface preparation, adhering, grouting, and sealing.

Diving up mosaic
I create custom art panels that hang on the wall, permanent installations to accent and enhance the surroundings, and glass mosaic adhered to windows or glass panels that will project light and color when illuminated.
I am extremely concerned about environmental sustainability, so I salvage materials whenever possible. Stained glass is collected from glass artists, tile is salvaged from tilesetters and flooring outlets, and bases (what I adhere the design to) are usually things that would otherwise have been discarded. Many of my pieces are done on cupboard doors salvaged from a mobile home demolition and scraps of siding, hardiboard, and good plywood discarded by builders. Mermaid mosaic art
This piece is done on scrap hardiboard using salvaged stained glass. (Kuhns 2008)
